Why Plateaus Occur...
The body is a machine. You feed it and it uses that fuel to go about its daily processes. When given the right foods, it will burn fat stores for energy. More energy out and less food intake equals a lower body weight for you. Unfortunately, your body slowly begins to adapt and weight loss slows. Let me explain why...

Summertime is all about feeling the sun on your face and getting some fresh air. But, many people stay inside and miss out on what nature has to offer. Here are some fun ways that you and the family can get out there and get healthy.
Even better than enjoying a summer day is enjoying it with someone else. As parents we try to send the kids outside but may not go out ourselves. Summer Weight Loss Warning! |
Monday, 25 July 2011 00:00 |
With just a month left until the end of summer, you may be in a hurry to lose a few pounds before the season changes. If so, be careful of those heavily advertised (and often misleading) products you see on the internet or at local stores promoting "fast, effortless" weight loss without exercise or lifestyle changes. While these companies are very good at telling the consumer what they want to hear, if you look closely at what they're selling, you'll see that their products often involve purchasing pre-packaged meals or drinks, herbal pills or a "starvation" diet plan that can be unsafe, costly and in my opinion, will help you lose nothing more than your money!
These so-called "miracle" weight loss plans and products often send dieters into a cycle of quick weight loss, followed by a “rebound” weight gain once normal eating resumes. Sadly, in many cases, the weight gained back is often greater than what was originally lost while on the diet plan!

Okay, so it’s about 11:30 at night and I’m sitting at my desk doing some paper work, well it’s not really my desk it’s the dining room table. But I’ve been calling it my desk ever since my real desk was commandeered by my daughter and I’m no longer allowed to use it. She claims I’ll “mess up” her papers then she'll fail her exams which means she won’t graduate, which means she’ll be unemployed, which means she’ll never get married, which means she'll have to live at home for the rest of her “miserable life...if you want to call that a life.” So calling my dining room table a desk makes me feel important and will allow my daughter to have a life.. I decided to work at this desk instead of my desk in the kitchen. I did this out of fear. Fear of eating the leftover pizza my kids left on the counter or the hot chocolate maker that’s directly in my line of vision. Good strategy right? That’s what I thought too...
